Tips on how to send your music to blogs

So you’ve done the hard part of making the music, so what next? I get hundreds of emails everyday and it always baffles me on how musicians don’t put in much effort when it comes to sending their music through. You’ve just created the most amazing art, don’t let it get ruined by the email.

What musicians forget is that the email is part of the project as well, it all goes hand in hand. So I thought I would give you a few tips on how to send your music to blogs.

Introduce yourself

Don’t have a bio? Then get one, it will be the best investment you will ever make. You can even write one yourself, just make sure it accurately describes who you are. The who, what, when and where is very applicable here.

Add links to your everything

I can’t stress it enough. Make sure that the person who is reading the email has all the information about you. The links to your social media accounts, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, YouTube and website.

Don’t send MP3s, send links to your music

Most of the time bloggers will only listen to your music with streaming services so make sure you are on them. It also makes it easier for them to get to your music quickly. If you’re not on Soundcloud then get on it! It’s great because bloggers are able to embed your music to their site and write a story about it.

Always have an image and cover art

I cannot stress this enough. The worst part of opening an email is not knowing what the person looks like. You want to make it as easy as possible for the writer to enjoy your music and repost it with all the information on there.
