The best of the borough - 3 female rappers for your friday.

Written by Bree Stewart

Though I was barely there a day, the borough of Brooklyn changed my soul. Hip Hop has always transformed me. Before exams, presentations and even during breakup woes, various hip hop anthems have made sweet love to my ear-holes and pushed me through adversity. Earlier this year myself and the Mrs strolled through ol’ Brooklyn one warm New York evening; life all around us  - pure movement. Brooklyn is the truest representation of the concept of hustle, the notion of the American dream, or better yet Humanity’s dream.

The borough spans a rich history, and better yet, she’s also the home to some overly inspiring hip hop artists. When you’re on the train to work and Hildi in the button-down shirt emits gas from her bumhole whilst walking past you (could you not hold it one more stop Hildi?), close your eyes and transport yourself to complete empowerment with these three outstanding Brooklyn-based rappers.

Btw they all have vaginas.

1. Junglepussy

Junglepussy’s album Pregnant with Success sends love to the women in her life “It’s an ode to my mother and to all mothers...anyone who ever planted a seed, anyone who ever created something, anyone who ever waited patiently for something to come into fruition."

2. Lil' Kim

Biggie Small mentee Lil’ Kim is arguably one of the better rapper’s to come out of Brooklyn amongst both men and women within the industry. Kim has no time for disingenuous human beings, and as such was one of the first women in Hip Hop to rap with the same explicit lyrics and edgy content as her Male counterparts.

3. T’Nah Apex

T’Nah has been known to rap alongside Joey Bada$$ or Buckshot as an accompanying vocalist, though this new-age MC has a couple of unknown gems on her own, most notably her pro-era, inspirational track XYXX.
